Chose Faith, Not Fear - Rob Sherwin
Llew and Sarah shared wonderfully on Sunday their journey of trusting God, waiting for Him and then seeing His faithfulness to them. One statement that stood out to me was ‘In the wait, we chose faith, not fear’. That phrase has stuck with me, as it emphasised to me that’s it’s still my choice not to give in to negative thoughts of fear, the what ifs and the unbelieving voices that so often surround us.
Fear is a liar, the ‘what if’s’ rarely happen and the negative voices rarely ever have our best interests in mind, so why should we listen to them? Whereas the one who made the promise, has proven faithful and true throughout the ages, he knows the end from the beginning and his love for you and me is unwavering, everlasting and sealed in the blood of His Son.
It makes sense to choose faith, so why do we struggle to choose it? Fear is a liar and the first lie it utters is that you can’t really break free of it. It’s a lie. His perfect love casts out ALL fear. Our weapons have divine power to cast down every argument and take captive every thought. (2 Cor 10:4-5). I have over the years discovered this to be true. Starving out the negative weakens it’s grip, choosing faith exposes the lies and they become easier to ignore.
You have the power to choose faith in God and His promises. Even when the wait continues, faith opens the door to His presence and perspective, which is a far far better place than where fear takes you! You can make the choice today, now, for he who promised is Faithful.
